BisonMooves is a modern logistics and relocation platform engineered to modernize how individuals and enterprises book and coordinate moving services. It replaces manual, error-prone phone estimations with an algorithmic quotation engine, interactive room-by-room inventory checklists, and milestone-based transit tracking.

The Challenge

Traditional moving services suffer from opaque pricing, unorganized inventory tracking, and poor coordination between clients and moving crews, frequently resulting in lost items and unexpected billing disputes.

V  —  Architecture

System Architecture & Data Flow

Engineered using a modular MERN architecture. The frontend React single-page application manages responsive views for both clients and dispatch operators. The Express backend exposes secure REST endpoints with JWT authentication and granular role validation, while MongoDB stores order milestones and nested item inventories for fast document retrieval.

VI  —  Engineering

Development Approach

Developed using an iterative agile methodology. Started with customer journey mapping to pinpoint the key friction points in moving logistics. Built high-fidelity interactive wireframes before engineering the backend data model. Conducted stress tests on the inventory calculation engine to ensure instant quotation updates even with hundreds of items.

Challenges Encountered & Solutions

Accurately calculating shipping volume and truck capacity from arbitrary household item lists proved challenging. This was solved by creating standardized cubic-foot volumetric presets for common furniture types with custom override parameters for irregular cargo.
